Shout Section Big Band
Shout Section Big Band is Chicagoland’s own professional jazz big band. Comprised of some of the most exciting veteran and up-and-coming musicians, Shout Section Big Band has become one of the Midwest’s best big bands. Since its inception a decade ago, S.S.B.B. has performed at numerous dances, weddings, civic concerts, educational clinics, television programs (including the nationally syndicated "The Vampire Diaries" and for the premiere of Amazon Prime's hit TV Series "A League of Their Own"). and radio shows. The band is popular with jazz fans and swing dancers & performs classic big band jazz from the 1930’s and 40’s, but also adapts modern hits to the big band style. Just when you think you know where the band is going, they’ll throw you a very entertaining curveball. Shout Section commissions new arrangements at a furious pace. New compositions by band members John Dorhauer, Joshua Jern, and Texas composer, Brian Stark keep the genre sounding as fresh today as it did generations ago.
